Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Asadullah Jadoon inaugurated the Sui Southern Gas Company's Compressor Plant at Jamshoro near Hyderabad, at an impressive ceremony on Monday. The Minister of State Mir Naseer Ahmed Khan Mengal, Chairman CBR and former Federal Secretary Petroleum, Abdullah Yusuf, Additional Federal Secretary Shaukat Hayat Durrani and Managing Director OGDC, Najam K. Hyder, were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to the senior management and engineers of SSGC, after inspecting the plant, the Federal Minister lauded their efforts and stated that he was most impressed by the quality of engineering and the high technical standards that the company had achieved without any external technical support.

SSGC's Hyderabad Compressor Plant, also known as HQ3, has a maximum capacity of 270 mmcfd, and is supplied gas from the Kadanwani fields in Badin district, in Sindh. The compressed gas then flows via SSGC transmission and distribution system to Karachi. The pipeline also supplies gas en-route to Hyderabad city, Jamshoro and some parts of inner Sindh.

Earlier, explaining the details of the plant, the Managing Director SSGC, Munawar Baseer Ahmad stated that "the Hyderabad Compressor Plant has been engineered, desired and constructed entirely by the SSCIC engineers". As a result, he pointed out, the company has saved the equivalent of Rs 938 million mostly in foreign currency.

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) is a model utility company supplying natural gas - the safest and most inexpensive fuel - to over 173 million customers, including more than 18,000 industrial/commercial customers, in over 928 towns in Sindh and Balochistan.
