He stated that maximum number of railway police staff was being deputed for the protection of railway key points/vital installations as well as in the running trains, by withdrawing them from unimportant duties.
Foot/cycle patrolling by the railway policemen was being, regularly, conducted within the area of railway police jurisdiction, he added.
He further said joint patrolling with the railway officials was being undertaken. Moreover, pilot engines were being run ahead of the main trains in the affected areas, to avert any untoward incident.
The railway police was, also regularly checking the patrolling being conducted by the railway gang men/patrollers, and in case of negligence, the matter was being reported to the general manager operations as well as the respective divisional superintendents, he added.
He further pointed out that all entry/exit points were being properly manned and incoming passengers and their luggage was being checked with the metal detectors.
He further said meetings with the district police had been held to ensure patrolling along the track by the district police outside the outer signals. He also said proper sweeping of all the rakes was being carried out at the washing lines, before dispatching to the railway stations.
"Announcements through public address system at the railway stations is being made for the education and information of the passengers to avert any untoward incident," he said.
