He said the Dutch company selling Pakistani products has more than 350 outlets in Poland and it would be impossible to counter its business activities.
He said the NCCI was in Karachi to meet Pakistani businessmen and investors willing to find business partners in Poland, areas for investment and offering business proposals to Polish businessmen.
He said areas for co-operation among the Pakistani and the Polish businessmen were many ranging from the most unsophisticated work of mining to the most sophisticated service industry.
He said, to begin with Poland would like to enter into granite and marble industry and then move on to fertiliser, refinery and power generation. Wiecaszeki said he would meet members of the business community and brief them about opportunities in Poland. While introducing the NCCI members, Consul General of Poland Ireneuz Makles gave an overview of the Pakistan's economy and said it was the right time for foreign investors to come forward and invest in Pakistan.
He said Poland was working to strengthen its trade and commerce relations with Pakistan.
Makles said in the eleven months of 2004, turnover in trade between Poland and Pakistan was 94.6 million. Pakistan exported $61.1 million goods to Poland while Poland exported $33.6 million to Pakistan.
Thus, trade in the said period increased 88 percent in comparison to the same period of 2003.
"In 2005, we wish to double the turnover in trade between our countries," he added.
He identified food processing, beverages, cold storage, food packaging, domestic appliances, engineering and allied industry, plastic industry, textile and textile manufacturing, textile supply technologies, consumer electronics, building materials, granite and marble, clothing industry and furniture industry as areas of immediate co-operation.
Other members of the Polish NCCI visiting Pakistan include Wojciech Brazuk, Executive Director, and Joanna Markiewicz, Co-ordinator of International Relations and Project.
They both gave an overview of the Polish economy and expressed the hope that Pakistan and Poland had enough to build an effective trade and commerce relation.
President of Pakistan-Poland Trade and Investment Forum Muhammad Waseem Vohra, President of Pakistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Salma Ahmed said that there were avenues ripe for joint venture between Pakistani and Polish businessmen. They should avail of this opportunity, they added.
