Moderates Founding Chairman Syed Jawaid Iqbal has stressed the need for better understanding between the tribal leaders and the government functionaries to avert the looming crisis in Balochistan through meaningful dialogue. Syed Jawaid Iqbal, who received his early education in Quetta, Pishin, Loralai and Chaman, urged both the government and the Sardars to find a peaceful solution to the existing crisis.

He said: "In this era of democracy, there is a need for both the parties to he reflective and self-critical. Confrontation will only prove to be counter-productive for all of us as a nation," he said.

Moderates, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) launched in 2003, comprises a group of enlightened people with a diversity of backgrounds in academia, business, religious scholarship and social and political sciences. Their goal is to combat intolerance and extremism, both in the developing and developed world.-PR
