Begum Afroz Soomro, mother of Minister for Privatisation and Investment Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, who died on Friday after protracted illness, was laid to rest at Defence graveyard here on Saturday. She was the daughter of former chief minister Allah Bukhsh Soomro and sister of Rahim Bukhsh Soomro. Her Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Sultan Masjid, Defence Housing Authority.

Federal Information Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmed, State Minister Naseer Mengal, Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr Ishrat Hussain, Elahi Bukhsh Soomro, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Hasan Ali Chaniho and senior officials attended the Namaz-e-Janaza.

SHAUKAT CONDOLES: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday condoled the sad demise of the mother of Minister for Privatisation and Investment Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.

In his condolence message the Prime Minister said he was deeply grieved at hearing the sad news. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
