A seminar on 'WTO: Prospects and Compulsions for Pakistan' was held under the aegis of the A-Level Business Society of Defence Authority Public School (O&A Levels) at Bahria Auditorium here on Friday, a press release says here. A number of renowned economists of the country and experts from business community participated the seminar, it added.

According to the release, the seminar was conducted in two sessions. State Life Corporation Chairman Kamal Afsar presided the first session whereas Dean & Director IBA Danishmand and former Federal Secretary Finance Aftab Ahmed Khan delivered their illuminating talks.

The 2nd session was presided by Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Khalid Firoz, while Export Promotion Bureau Director Nusrat Iqbal Jamshed and National Bank of Pakistan Senior Vice President Uzma Bashir were the distinguished speakers, the release said.

The speakers stressed that in order to effectively deal with the impending challenges imposed by new WTO regime the textile industry and government should work together to improve the international competitiveness in the textile sector by taking full advantage of the new unfolding opportunity, it concluded.-PR
