Sialkot district government has prepared a detailed plan for the construction of district assembly building costing more than Rs 80 million, said District Nazim Mian Naeem Javed. Talking to Business Recorder here on Friday he added that under the first of the plan the building of district assembly would be constructed and in second phase the offices of district government would be built. The work on the first phase of the project would be started shortly, he said.

The District Nazim further said that the step was being taken to lessen the problems of the masses as well as to ensure facilities under one roof. Naeem Javed revealed that over Rs 680 million were being spent during the current fiscal year on the completion of various development projects in Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsils of Sialkot district.

Apart from this, he said a comprehensive plan costing Rs 260 million has been initiated for de-silting and stone pitching of seasonal nullah Aik passing through the middle of the city. After de-silting of nullah Aik the water flowing capacity would be increased to 40,000 from 20,000 cusecs, which ultimately would remove the threats of overflowing of water during flood and monsoon season, he added.

Naeem Javed said that each of 122 union councils of the district would get three water filtration plants adding that 90 water filtration plants were installed in different urban areas of Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsils of the district.
