The other three members of the Sitab are the Additional Chief Secretary (Planning and Development), Secretaries of Information Technology Department and Finance Department.
As many as 10 members have been drawn from the private sector and their induction is aimed at participation from that very sphere.
Mustafa Kamal described the formation of the Sitab as a revolutionary step and that it would spur the process of development in the information technology in the province. He was of the view that wherever the information technology revolution had taken place in the world, it had been through the private sector.
The Minister pointed out that the Sitab would meet at least once in a month and the meeting would be chaired by the Sindh Governor.
However, in view of the pressing engagements of the Governor, the co-chairman can also convened the meeting of the Sitab.
Mustafa Kamal also shed light on the performance of the Provincial Information Technology Department during the past one year.
He pointed out that the e-government project had been taken up and the networking of the five departments of the government of Sindh had been completed.
The Minister said that as many as 15, 000 employees of the provincial government had been provided with the computer training and that the Information Technology Department had also made available 200 computers during the period. He also spoke about the setting up of some 800 IT awareness centres in the province through the private sector.
Mustafa Kamal stated that six such centres had so far been set up in Larkana, while another one would be established on the first day of the year 2005. Sindh IT Secretary Buxial Khan Gudaro was also present on the occasion.
