Punjab government was formulating a policy under which no housing scheme developer would be allowed to put its advertisement in the media prior to getting final approval of its housing scheme from the competent authority. It was told in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Rasool here on Friday, disclosed an official. Among others who participated in the meeting included provincial secretaries finance, communication and works, information and culture, housing law and director general, Lahore Development Authority.

It was informed in the meeting that any person or developer of a housing society would get approval from the competent authority from its concerned district. Under the proposed procedure, all development authorities of the province would be competent authorities in their respective districts, while in remaining districts, scrutiny committees, headed by the DCO, would be constituted and concerned TMAs would be competent sanctioning authority.

It was also decided in the meeting for launching awareness campaign against bogus societies through media. Moreover, hoarding would also be displayed at important points in the city.
