The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has issued notification that there will be no loadshedding of power in winter, besides punishing the general manager (operations) responsible for issuing loadshedding schedule without taking the federal government into confidence, an official told Business Recorder.

In a letter to the federal government, member power Wapda said that load shedding schedule announced earlier has been nullified, but apprehended that outages would continue in the systems of Wapda and independent power producers.

He also cited the example of Thursday's incident of Chashma Nuclear Power Plant, which was shut down for the whole day due to shortage of voltage in system.

On Thursday, the ministry of water and power dispatched a letter to Wapda, saying that strict action would be taken against the officials who would issue any instruction for load shedding without the consent of ministry.

Sources said, Wapda has already made the general manager operations OSD for issuing load shedding schedule without the approval of minister.
