Tahir Sadiq has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in Pakistan, with effect from 18th December 2004. He will replace Guy Priestley, who has been named as Chief Executive Officer for HSBC in Brunei and takes charge in January 2005. Tahir Sadiq, 47, has been with the HSBC Group for over 20 years and has worked in both Pakistan and overseas. He has worked in the credit, corporate banking and audit departments and has also headed the Islamabad Branch.

In 2001, he was transferred to Hong Kong as Senior Audit Manager, Asia Pacific, before moving back to Pakistan in July 2004 to take up the post of Chief Operating Officer.-PR
