NO CUT IN SINDH SHARE: Talking to APP here on Monday Irsa chairman Aman Gul Khan no decision has been made to cut Sindh's water share for the remaining Rabi season.
He said the authority would maintain water share of provinces, as decided in the advisory committee's meeting.
"Irsa will strictly follow the decision and water will be provided to provinces according to the approved formula."
He said all four provinces are utilising their allocated share with great care and full consciousness and there is no chance of acute water shortage in the remaining season.
He said all provinces are satisfied with the existing water availability and clarified that no province has expressed dissatisfaction over its water share.
The Irsa chairman expressed satisfaction over the water position in dams, particularly in Tarbela and Mangla dams, and said the level is appropriate in the reservoirs.
He said Irsa would review water availability for the remaining Rabi season in its next meeting scheduled to be held here on December 1.
Meanwhile, official sources said that Irsa's meeting, to be held here on Monday, has been cancelled due to unavailability of irrigation secretaries of Sindh and Balochistan.
Sources said Sindh has not demanded any additional release of water and it is not true that Sindh had utilised more than its approved share for the season.
They said the authority is providing water to provinces according to their requirements. They added the decision of 44 percent water shortage will remain, as decided in Irsa's meeting.
They said an overall water storage of 3.2 million acres feet (MAF) is recorded in Mangle and Tarbela dams, which is sufficient till March.
They predicted that water storage could further increase due to likely positive weather conditions in April and May.
According to them, Irsa is fulfilling the provinces' peak demand in the sowing period of wheat and said sufficient water is available in the reservoirs for the first watering of wheat crop.
