Russia's large farms had harvested 42.1 million tonnes of grain from 18.1 million hectares of land by August 24. Average yields declined notably to 2.32 tonnes per hectare from 2.63 tonnes by August 17.
Third class food wheat prices increased by just 50-100 roubles per tonne on average in most parts of European Russia in the past week after a month of sustained rises.
In some regions prices were stable, which made some traders talk about the market overheating and forecast an abrupt decline.
SovEcon believes that third class wheat prices will be generally stable in the next few weeks. However, a decline may start from the second half of September, when large shipments of Siberian wheat to the market are expected.
Fourth class food wheat prices eased slightly, by 50-100 roubles per tonne for the first time from the start of the new season. Traders explain the decline by high offers and relatively low demand.
