Malaysian tin closed 0.2 percent higher on Monday, rebounding from last week's sharp selldown as the metal's price also rose in London trade.

Spot tin in Kuala Lumpur jumped $20 to $8,900 a tonne after a transaction of 47 tonnes. It fell 1.2 percent on Friday, on a volume of 59 tonnes, after following liquidation in London tin the previous day.

On Monday's rebound was spurred by a $75 jump in tin on the London Metal Exchange, dealers said.

The London market often influences price direction in Kuala Lumpur.
