They also demanded the provincial government to review its denationalisation policy. They also called for removal of Sindh Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro, allocation of 5 percent of the country's GDP for education and keeping education among top most priorities.
During the meeting, the SPLA praised Sindh Ombudsman Yousuf Jamal's statement in which he had reportedly said that educational institutions had transformed themselves into moneymaking machines and they should be brought under strict control.
The meeting demanded the Sindh Ombudsman to issue notice to Sindh Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro for her alleged links with "traders of education" in the province and expressed concern over the minister's negative statements against teachers.
"After denationalisation of colleges, education will become out of reach for the people hailing from middle and lower middle class segments of the society," SPLA Sindh President Professor Syed Riaz Ahsan told the meeting, adding that teaching and non-teaching staff at these educational institutions would also be handed over to private owners.
Later, participants of the meeting held a protest demonstration outside the college and chanted slogans against Dr Hameeda Khuhro.
They also presented a resolution to Town Nazim Liaquatabad Town Dr Pervez Mahmood and urged him to support their campaign against denationalisation of educational institutions.
