In the fiscal year 2003-04 the inflow of remittances from overseas Pakistanis amounted to 3,871.56 million dollars, including 45.42 million dollars through profit in Pakistani rupees of Foreign Exchange Bearer Certificates (FEBCs) and Foreign Currency Bearer Certificates (FCBCs), SBP sources told APP here on Monday.

In the financial year 2002-03 this amount was 4,236.85 million dollars 4,190.73 million dollars directly from worker remittances and 46.12 million dollars from FEBCs and FCBCs.

In the year 2000-2001 the amount received was 1066.57 million dollars, which included 1,020.59 million dollars as remittances and 64.98 million dollars as FEBCs and FCBCs amount.

An amount of 983.73 million dollars was received through the remittances as 913.49 million dollars and 70.24 million dollars received though FEBCs and FCBCs during the FY 1999-2000.

They added that during last three financial years ie 2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04 the highest amount of remittances was received from USA ie 778.96 million dollars, 1,237.52 million dollars and 1,225.09 million dollars respectively.

In the year 2003-04, 597.48 million dollars received from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed by 565.29 million from Saudi Arabia, and 333.94 million dollars from the United Kingdom.
