Vice President PCCC said that production target of 10.7 million cotton bales was set for the financial year 2004-05, While last year the target was 10.2 million bales.
"It is hoped that a record production of cotton will be achieved during this year if the crop is protected from insects' attach for one month," he added.
Ebad Badar informed that cultivation area for cotton crop in Punjab and Sindh had been increased by six and nine percent respectively, during the current financial year.
Punjab Irrigation Minister, Arshad Khan Lodhi said that sufficient quantity of pesticides were present in the country to cop the situation.
To a question, the minister said that the government would take strict action against companies producing fake pesticides.
