The park, spread over four acres of land, would cost Rs 9.7 million and is expected to be completed in three months.
Farooq Memon Faria, Nazim, Saddar Town, Najmi Alam, Nazim, UC-10, Horticulturist Dr A. U. Khan, District Officer (Parks) Liaquat Ali Khan and others were present.
Addressing the ceremony, City Nazim said the Mafia was operative in every sector of the life including transport, education etc and added that the builders` Mafia had also tried to grab this piece of land but the UC Nazim saved it and now a park is being constructed here.
He said the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has planned to provide recreational facilities to the citizens and for this purpose model parks are being constructed in each town of the city. "Initially, such parks are being inaugurated in 11 towns while in second phase rest of the towns would be provided with model parks," he told.
Naimatullah Khan said Bagh-e-Ibn-e-Qasim has been declared as National Park and currently was being renovated and the work is expected to be completed in next four months.
