The Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern over the grave situation, which has been created due to undeclared loadshedding and shutdowns of electricity supply in the town by Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company (Hesco).

According to a fax message received here, a resolution, passed unanimously by the Sukkur CCI executive committee, also expressed its indignation over the issuance of detection as well as advance reading bills to the consumers, which had created a lot of resentment among the domestic, commercial and industrial consumers of the area.

In spite of filing objections against detection of advance reading bills, no action had so far been taken by the HESCO authorities, said the resolution.

The committee also resolved and demanded that Sukkur thermal power station be re-energised as early as possible to meet the demand of power to avoid undeclared loadshedding/shutdowns in the area.

By another resolution, the committee demanded of the provincial government to set up Sukkur Medical College in Sukkur town and no other place outside the city as it was being considered.

The committee observed that the Sukkur City, which is the third largest city of Sindh province, had always been ignored, as in the past Radio Pakistan, engineering college and other socio-economic projects were set up in other parts of the province, ignoring Sukkur completely.
