Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Board (PHDEB) has planned to promote flora culture in Pakistan at par with international standards.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the PHDEB Karachi office arranged a joint meeting of the flower growers, Flora Importers and Exporters of Karachi. Dr Ijaz Ahmad Manager Technical, Tajamal Hussain Nisar, Manager Marketing and Peter La Graaw a foreign Flora Consultant represented the PHDEB in this meeting.

The meeting discussed all issues related to the flower growers sector at length including nurseries registration, pruning, insects pests attack, diseases in flowers, irrigation system presently in practice and drip irrigation system, post harvest technology.

Suhail Akbar Qureshi Chairman Sindh Flower Trade Association, Sayed Khalid Zaidi flower grower, Hamayun Laiq from Laiq & Co, Khalil Zaidi flower grower, Muhammad Iqbal flower grower and trader, Abdul Majeed flower grower, Maleka Majeed, and A.K. Khan a renowned florist participated in discussion and shared their practical experiences.

Peter La Graaw explained that PHDEB will provide technical support to flower growers and also will be arranging seminars and workshop on latest modern technology development in Flora culture sector at international level.
