Country's celebrated pugilist Asghar Ali Shah out-pointed Volodymry Kravets of Ukarine in the lightweight first round bout to advance into the next round of the Athens Olympic Games on Monday.

According to results available here, Asghar chalked up a 21-17 points victory over his opponent to keep Pakistan's hope of securing a medal in the Games alive.

Asghar's compatriot Faisal Karim made an unceremonious exit the other day when he lost to Ionut Gheorghe of Romania 11-26 points in the light welterweight caterogy.

Sohail Ahmed, the third Pakistani qualifier, suffered a severe blow when referee stopped contest to declare Bekzod Khidirov of Uzbekistan winner in the first round of Featherweight.
