The Chief Minister, while talking to newsmen here on Sunday, said the honest and reputed persons would be appointed as chairmen of Zakat committees so that the amount could be delivered to genuinely deserving persons.
He said the government would also take effective measures to avoid lapsing of Zakat amount.
About auction of wheat, he said, an investigation had been initiated into the matter and those found responsible in misappropriation and corruption would be dealt with accordingly.
The Chief Minister said the Sindh government acquired more wheat from the Federal and Punjab governments keeping in view the requirement and to avoid any shortage of wheat in the province.
He made it clear that wheat hoarders would not be spared at any cost.
To a question about the allegations of the opposition about the plan of rigging in the by-election to NA-229 Tharparkar, the Chief Minister showed the receipts of hiring vehicles for the election campaign, and said despite the offers from friends and well wishers, the vehicles had been hired for the election campaign.
He also showed the documents, indicating that a house was acquired on rent of Rs 15,000 per months by the Finance Minister and the prime minister-designate in Mithi town.
"We have no need of rigging in the by-elections as the voters of the constituency are fully supporting the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) candidate," he added.
Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim also asked the engineers of the Highway Department to speed up the construction work of the road, leading to the office of District Police Officer (DPO), Tharparkar.
The Chief Minister told the newsmen that remodelling of Nara Canal and lining of watercourses would be carried out by the government in an effective manner to ensure the provision of irrigation water to the growers at the tails.
He also said the doctors and other government officers, having domicile of Tharparkar, would be posted in Tharparkar, while the problems of the district, which were related to Federal government departments would also be resolved soon by approaching the concerned officers.
Replying to a question about the affairs of local government, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said that it was a provincial subject and the Chief Minister was fully authorised to run the affairs of the local governments.
About National Finance Commission (NFC) award, he said the provincial government had taken its stand on the interests of people of Sindh.
Despite hurdles, all out efforts would be made to put the province on the path of rapid progress and prosperity, he said.
