The exercise will take place near the Sino-Pak border in Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, north-west China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Live firing and most advanced weapons will be used during the exercise.
Defence sources told APP here the exercise would help strengthen co-operation between the two countries and their armies, improve the capacity of jointly combating terrorism, and contain and crack down on the forces of separatism and terrorism.
The exercise would also give boost to bilateral co-operation in non-traditional security field and maintain security and stability in the region, the sources said.
Earlier Pakistan and China conducted joint naval exercises along the Shanghai coast last October as the first time China had engaged in joint naval operations with another nation.
In their joint declaration signed last year, the two parties agreed that separatism and extremism posed serious threats to regional security and stability. They would actively support and facilitate substantial co-operation in combating separatism, extremism and terrorism with a view to safeguarding regional peace and stability.
According to the sources, China fully supported combating international terrorism and also expresses its complete support for Pakistan's principled policy to assist the international community in its fight against terrorism.
