A delegation of FPCCI, headed by Maqbool Ahmed, Vice President, FPCCI, met CBR Chairman and his team of tax managers here on Monday to discuss various anomalies relating to customs and sales tax.
Member Sales Tax Shahid Ahmed, Member Customs Muhammad Ramzan Bhatti and Member Income Tax Salman Nabi discussed the anomalies with the representatives of the business community.
FPCCI thanked tax authorities for resolving a number of issues which rose due to budgetary measures. The delegation informed CBR about the major irritants of customs such as Fiscal Fraud (Section 32A), amendment in Section 25-A and concessionary SROs and requested for the redressal of the problems.
The delegation also apprised about the anomalies of sales tax and income tax such as amendment in text of Section 73, addition in the definition of Tax Fraud made in Clause II of Sub-Section 37 of Section 2 of Sales Tax, discretionary powers to Collectors - Section 8 and power to call for information - Section 38A.
Yousuf assured the delegation of his fullest co-operation in the resolution of the problems. He said that the problems and irritants in the smooth operation of trade should be removed to facilitate the business community.
He said that CBR would favourably consider the anomalies such Fiscal Fraud (section 32A), amendment in Section 25-A and others.
The delegation also had a joint meeting with the officials of CBR and Engineering Development Board (EDB) and apprised them to resolve the issues on the merit.
