Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Siraj Kassam Teli in a letter to Shaukat Aziz, Federal Minister for Finance, has condemned the act of terrorism and assured him the Chamber's full support and co-operation.

He said: "We were all shocked to learn the unfortunate suicidal attack, in which you miraculously remained unhurt and safe. Almighty Allah came to your rescue, only because of your selfless and meritorious services rendered to our motherland and that Allah wants you to take this country to the pinnacle of glory and prosperity."

"We strongly condemn this cowardly act of terrorism and hope this will further strengthen your resolve and determination to defeat the nefarious design against you, our beloved country and Islam. Let me assure you that myself, the entire business community of Karachi and for that matter, of entire country is with you and will continue to strengthen your hands in the service to the nation.

"Everyone participating in the Karachi-based Exporters Awards ceremony, which was to be attended by you as the chief guest, missed you and prayed for your long life. We understand your inability to attend the ceremony, which was of course, beyond your control. I am sending herewith the KCCI Crest, which was to be awarded to you in the ceremony. With kind regards and looking forward to your assuming the office of the prime minister very soon."

Meanwhile, Shaikh Manzar Alam, Chairman Advisory Board, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati), has expressed deep shock on the incident of suicidal attack on the life of the federal finance minister and prime minister-designate Shaukat Aziz.

He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah that he saved Shaukat Aziz to serve the nation.

Pakistan Soap Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Chairman M. Yakub Karim has urged the government to put country's security forces on red alert to avert terrorists attacks.

Condemning the attack on Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, he said the attempt on the life of Shaukat Aziz had tarnished the image of the country and foreign investors were shy to invest in Pakistan.

The PSMA Chairman said it was a fact that Pakistan was the frontline state against war of terrorism, "so our intelligence agencies and police should always be on red alert."

He said the attack on Shaukat Aziz was carried out by the same elements, which attempted on the life of President Pervez Musharraf, and described them the enemies of Pakistan and Islamic Ummah.

He also offered heartfelt condolences to the families of innocent people, who lost their lives in that heinous crime.
