A US firm Bearing Point has expressed the interest to heavily invest in Pakistan and also to come up with the transfer of technology. This was stated by the Director of Bearing Point USA, Bret S. Haan.

He was talking to APP here on Monday after meeting the Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Syed Mustafa Kamal, in his office. He pointed out that one of the company's largest investments in this new quarter would be in Pakistan.

It is significant investment from our part. It is investment in the human side and in the people," Brett S. Haan remarked and also expressed long term commitment in the area.

He said that the Bearing Point USA is one of the five largest consulting firms internationally with over three billion dollars yearly revenue.

Haan said that his organisation not only serves in the United States and Europe but also in the Middle East.

He stated that his firm would come up with the best solutions that are most applicable to Pakistan in various fields. He also described Karachi as the locomotive of Pakistan's economy.

He said that his firm has been serving the commercial markets, banking and public sector.

Anwar Rodney Rehman, Managing Director of Bearing Point Pakistan, who was also present on the occasion, said that the firm will not only come up with substantial investment in this country but more importantly substantial transfer of technology.

He said that the plus point of this aspect is that the Bearing Point would bring invaluable technology to Pakistan. It was stated that the Information Technology actually increased the public perception of the government.

Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Syed Mustafa Kamal, welcomed the team of Bearing Point. He said that setting up of offices by companies like these here would have a good impact on the overall economy of Pakistan.

The minister said that this would also help them enhance productivity in this province and added "With such an interaction we will also he able to get technology."

Mustafa Kamal said, "We can also attract a number of other investors to Pakistan." He described this as a very good sign for the country as well as for the province of Sindh and for the city of Karachi, which is the commercial hub of Pakistan.

Sindh Secretary, Information Technology Department, Muhammad Yahya Waliullah, and Ahmed Saeed, Director of Bearing Point Pakistan, were also present on the occasion.
