Italian climber Minister on Sunday said that relations between Pakistan-Italy would be further strengthened in the coming years.

Addressing the foundation laying stone ceremony of Skardu expedition Museum, he said that the Museum would be the symbol of friendship between Pakistan and Italy. He expressed great pleasure over the successful K-2 Golden Jubilee celebrations in Skardu and paid rich tributes to the Italian climbers who again scaled the killer mountain (K-2) fifty years later and made further enthusiastic the K-2 Golden Jubilee celebrations.

On this occasion Alimanno unveiled the plaque of the museum. Earlier, the architect of the museum Italian Sulven threw light on the museum background and the K-2 scale campaign in 1954 and difficulties of the time.

Chief Secretary, Northern Areas, Mohammad Farid Khan on this occasion thanked the Italian Minister for Agriculture Alimanno for attended the celebrations in Skardu. On this occasion Ashraf Aman, a climber, presented Gilgit caps to the climbers of K-2. A friendly polo match is also organised between Italy and Pakistan.

Paintings exhibition would be held and the Italian city of Kortina and Skardu would be declared twin cities, commemorative stamps would be issued and certificates of commendation would be distributed among the climbers of Northern Areas who scaled 8000 meters peaks of the world.
