Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has directed police and other concerned authorities to take concrete steps for improving law and order situation in the province and warned that no dereliction of duty would be tolerated in this regard.

He further directed that investigation process for unearthing terrorist elements should be conducted on modern scientific lines.

The Chief Minister was addressing a law and order meeting held at Punjab House, Murree, on Saturday, which was attended by Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool, acting Punjab IG Azhar Hassan Nadeem, additional IG, and DIG, besides heads of other administrative departments.

According to a handout, Pervaiz Elahi regretted loss of precious lives in the suicide attack on Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, adding that nefarious aims of anti-Pakistan elements would be thwarted at all cost.

He ordered the police to utilise all possible resources to apprehend the culprits, adding that all agencies have been alerted in view of prevalent law and order situation.

He called upon the police authorities to ensure effective implementation, on war footing of procedure evolved to improve law and order in the province.

He directed that the process of collecting necessary information should be expedited to halt crimes in society.

He said additional security force would be deputed for maintenance of law and order in the province. He directed that security arrangements of important places should be beefed up.

He called upon all the concerned government institutions to play their effective role in complete eradication of scourge of terrorism.
