Additional Chief Secretary Punjab apprised the meeting chaired by Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar in Lahore, of the security arrangements in NA-59 Attock-III.
The Acting Chief Election Commissioner directed the Home Secretary and Additional Provincial Police Officer to ensure fool proof security arrangement in the constituency particularly after the occurrence of the tragic incident at Fateh Jang on Friday.
He advised the provincial government to strictly ensure that no unauthorised open person should enter the polling stations except the voters, polling agents, election agents and the candidates having specific entry passes issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He also inquired from the Additional Chief Secretary Punjab about arrangement made by the provincial government for bye-election, particularly about the sensitive polling stations.
The provincial administration assured the CEC that fool proof security arrangement will be made at the polling stations.
The Additional Chief Secretary informed directives and instruction received from the Election Commission were being followed strictly.
He said the local administration was vigilant in all matters, particularly maintaining the law and order situation.
The Acting Chief Election Commissioner advised the District Returning Officer and the Returning Officer to complete the training of the polling personnel within the schedule.
He also reviewed the arrangements for the conduct of bye-election in a fair and impartial manner.
Earlier, Secretary Election Commission briefed the participants about the purpose of meeting and asked them to point out any problem faced by them regarding conduct of bye-election in NA-59, Attock-III.
Secretary Local Government informed the meeting that elaborate logistic arrangement have been made by the district administration for transportation of election material and polling personnel.
District Returning Officer and Returning Officer Attock informed that all arrangements had been finalised including the polling scheme.
Members of the Election Commission Justice Nasim Sikandar, Judge, Lahore High Court, Lahore, Justice Qazi Ehsanullah Qureshi, Judge, Peshawar High Court were also present.
The meeting was also attended by Hasan Mohammad, Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, Rahim Nawaz Khan Durrani, Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Local Government and Rural Development, Home Secretary, Secretary Education, Additional Provincial Police Officer, District Returning Officer District Co-ordination Officer and Returning Officer NA-59 Attock-III, Deputy Election Commissioner, Rawalpindi and Assistant Election Commissioner, Attock.
