Students of Urdu language in the Peking University, Beijing, led by Professor Kong Julan visited the Punjab University and met acting PU Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Azhar Ikram Ahmed.

The chief co-ordinator, Federal Directorate of Education, Professor Muhammad Rafiq Tahir, also accompanied the delegation. The 10-member Chinese delegation will stay in Pakistan for 12 days.

The acting PU vice-chancellor briefed the delegation on various academic programmes of the university. He assured that the Punjab University would extend all out co-operation to Chinese students, who intend to study at the Punjab University and financial assistance will also be extended to them.

Professor Kong Julan briefed the vice-chancellor that the Peking University had included Pakistan's National Anthem and the famous national song 'Sohni Dharti' in their Urdu language curriculum.

She told him that the delegation had visited the old campus besides, visiting Lahore Museum, Minar-e-Pakistan and other historical places of the city. She also invited the PU students to visit university in China.

Islamic and Oriental Learning Faculty Dean Professor Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, Oriental College Principal Professor Dr Mazhar Moeen, Urdu Department Chairperson Professor Dr Manzoor Akhtar Tehseen Firaqi, Dr Muhammad Salim Malik and PU Registrar Colonel Masud-ul-Haq were also present on the occasion.
