The "Economic Wing" of the Ministry of Tourism has launched a countrywide survey of hotels, motels, tour operators and travel agencies to collect data and information to prepare a report on the tourism industry.

An official source told Business Recorder here on Saturday, that the report, besides providing information on tourist facilities, would facilitate public and private sectors in assessing potential for investment in tourism sector.

The source further elaborated that it would cover growth of tourism in Pakistan, prepare a directory of tourists lodges, hotels and restaurants along with rates and give information about adventure and sports tourism in Pakistan.

He said that the report would be circulated free of cost to national and international private sector organisations.

The report would provide guidelines to the private sector, as the ministry is very keen to involve private sector to boost tourism in the country and this would generate more jobs and commercial opportunities.

Emphasising the importance of survey, the source urged the owners of the motels and tour operators to co-operate with the survey teams who were currently visiting throughout the country.
