APM Terminals is pleased to announce a new world record for berth productivity of an impressive 340 container moves per hour. The record was set in the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) during operations on the Maersk Sealand vessel "A.P. Moller".

A total of 8 Super Post-Panmax container cranes, some of the world's largest, were employed during the cargo operations where 4,316 containers were discharged and loaded in less than 13 hours.

In 2003, PTP handled 3.5 million 20 feet containers (TEUS), which is an increase of 31% from the previous year.

The port is strategically located at the south-west shoulder of Johor with a minimum diversion time from the confluence of the main international shipping lanes.

PTP's strategic location presents significant geographical advantages through its deep waters, sheltered bay and wide access channel. PTP offers 6 berths of 360 meters each, totaling 2.16 km in length.

This is backed by one of the largest container yards in the region with a storage capacity of 110,000 TEUS.

The A.P. Moller-Maersk Group is a shareholder in PTP, where APM terminals also holds a contract for the operational management of the container terminal.

Some of the major Shipping Companies operating in Pakistan call the PTP terminal, managed by APM Terminals (part of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group). They enjoy a strategic advantage in terms of superior services and fast transits.-PR
