China has shown willingness to set up big spinning unit with Chinese machinery to share its expertise in the textile sector with Pakistan.

The Chinese delegation led by Wang Tian Kai, Vice Minister of China National Textile Industry Council stated this during a meeting with Federal Industries and Production Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi here on Friday.

China wants to be a partner to Pakistan in textile manufacturing and trade.

The delegation while appreciating the economic policies of the government said that after setting up of spinning mill they would establish weaving unit through joint ventures.

Jatoi appreciated the Chinese proposal for setting up of spinning unit and offered them land at the proposed Textile City at reasonable price.

He also said that there would be good news in the coming budget regarding import of raw material and textile machinery.

He asked them to invest in Gwadar, which has been declared as free trade zone, and play their role to capture the South Asian and Central Asian markets.

The minister also asked the Textile Commissioner Organisation to provide them all the details about textile sector.

Industries Ministry Secretary Javed Ashraf Hussain and State Engineering Commission Chairman Major General Sikandar Hayat (Retd) also briefed the delegation about the textile city project, manufacturing of parts in PMIF and Spinning Centre and availability of infrastructure for making parts for textile units and other related matters.

Senior officials of the ministry and Textile Commissioner Organisation also attended the meeting.
