A hitherto unknown armed group warned Arab countries in a video aired Wednesday against sending troops to Iraq, vowing to attack any Arab forces dispatched to the war-torn country.

"The Squadrons of Islamic Anger warn Arab states against sending troops to Iraq on the pretext of preserving security and order" there, the group's self-styled spokesman said in a statement read out on the Dubai-based Al-Arabiya news channel.

Should Arab countries ignore the warning, "these troops will meet the same fate as the US invasion forces," said the statement by the hooded gunmen.

Al-Arabiya said the group claimed responsibility for several attacks against US forces in Iraq.

Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said on Saturday that Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates had offered help to boost the capabilities of the Iraqi army and security agencies.
