The Federal Cabinet on Wednesday approved setting up of a Pakistan Intellectual Property Rights Organisation (PIPRO) for the overall management of the intellectual property rights in the country.

It will integrate three different intellectual property rights offices functioning at present, which have created difficulties in implementing the regime because of overlapping responsibilities.

A policy board comprising representatives of the concerned ministries will administrate the PIPRO.

An official press release said PIPRO has been set up in order to meet the international obligations and its responsibilities to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
