The Pre-admission Test for Master of Sciences (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) fifth batch, fall session 2018 in US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Jamshoro was held at five different cities throughout Pakistan simultaneously on Sunday.

Total 494 out of 581 appeared in the test to seek admission in four different MS/PhD degree programs which includes Hydraulics, Irrigation and Drainage (HID), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Environmental Engineering (Env Eng) and only MS program in Water, Sanitation and Health (WaSH) Sciences at USPCAS-W, MUET Jamshoro.

MUET Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, MUET Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Tauha Hussain Ali, USPCAS-W Project Director Dr Bakhshal Khan Lashari, Dean Architecture and Civil Engineering Dr Khan Muhammad Brohi, Dean Faculty of Engineering Dr Muhammad Moazam Baloch, Deputy Director USPCAS-W Dr Rasool Bux Mahar, In-Charge USPCAS-W Admission Committee Dr Kamran Ansari and other officials visited MUET Water Center and Civil Engineering Department to review the test arrangements.

To facilitate the candidates for the entrance test, five pre-admission test centers at different parts of the country have been established, first at Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Center (PASTIC), Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, second at New Academic Block, US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar, third at Department of Agriculture Engineering, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, fourth at Water Resource Research Center (WRRC) at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS) Takatu Campus, Quetta and fifth at USPCAS-W and Civil Department at MUET, Jamshoro.

The enrolled students who meet the criteria will spend fully funded one-semester exchange program at American universities primarily at the University of Utah and the Colorado State University of USA. The students will be given a stipend of Rs 15,000/ per month, free transport, research grant and in addition to these facilities, female students can avail fully-furnished hostel accommodation at MUET at free of cost.

The United States Government and Government of Pakistan have partnered together to establish a state of the art Centers for Advanced Studies in Energy, Agriculture and Food Security and in Water. MUET Jamshoro was selected for water Center financially supported by the American People through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), technically assisted by the University of Utah, USA. MUET National Water Center is dedicated to resolving Pakistan's water crises through providing world class education in different water related disciplines, undertaking applied & policy research; developing specialized human resources and technical capacities, and promoting academia-industry collaboration. In preparing the next generation of water sustainability leaders, the Center encourages female students and researchers to take advantage of the opportunities being offered in the Center.
