Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Friday said the government is moving ahead speedily to modernize the healthcare system in the Punjab and every possible step is being taken for improving the quality of healthcare facilities in the public sector hospitals. "We are required to improve the medical facilities besides harmonizing the hospitals according to latest trends to give best treatment to the patients," said Shahbaz Sharif.

He was presiding over a high level meeting in which arrangements of holding Pak medical health exhibition in the provincial capital were reviewed in detail. The Punjab government has planned to organize Pak medical health exhibition in the provincial capital at the end of the month. High officials of Turkish health ministry as well as Turkish and Pakistani companies working in the health sector will participate in the said exhibition. During the exhibition, agreements of cooperation will also be signed with Turkish healthcare companies and the ministry of health of Turkey, sources said.

While addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that best arrangements of security and all other matters relevant to the exhibition be ensured. He said Turkey is providing its cooperation to improve the healthcare system in the Punjab and the participation of Turkish companies and health experts in the exhibition will provide an opportunity to take benefit of their experiences and expertise. This exhibition will prove quite beneficial to further improve the healthcare system in the province, he added.

He said that successful Turkish model will fully benefit our country's healthcare system as Turkey is counted among Pakistan's best friends and is ready to provide all out support for the improvement of health sector. Provincial Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Sheikh Allauddin, Special Assistant Malik Ahmad Khan, Chief Secretary, Health Secretaries, health experts and concerned officials attended the meeting.
