Central Chairman Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) Ijaz A. Khokhar on Friday said that necessary arrangements have been finalized for opening of International Apparel Federation (IAF) office in newly-constructed PRGMEA building Sialkot. Talking with Business Recorder he said that IAF office would be addition in Sialkot which will offer a connection to SMEs in apparel industry through their associations including Sialkot.

The mission of IAF is to unite all stakeholders of fashion industry including brands, retailers, suppliers and country associations from around the world to enable and promote smarter, stronger more sustainable supply chain he revealed. Ijaz further stated that IAF is unique because it is the only global federation for apparel industry because it unites buyers and manufacturers in one federation.

About 18th Textle Asia he said that it was a successful three-day event which was attended by large number of domestic and international businessmen and general public.

Chairman PRGMEA further added that holding of such exhibitions will pave the way in providing wide opportunities to local businessmen for introducing their products which will ultimately ensure their easy access to international market. Our textile sector had a great potential and PRGMEA was making strenuous efforts for exploiting potentiality of business community engaged with textile business for enhancing the export as well as bringing innovation in the products he added.

Ijaz suggested that federal government should concentrate on establishing "Regional Task Forces" for the promotion of different industrial sectors and bringing out the industry out of crises. The PRGMEA Chairman also suggested that federal and provincial governments should focus attention on setting up industrial villages and special economic zones to facilitate the business community across the country.
