Shahzad Ayub, who is contesting the annual elections for the office of central Chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills association (APTMA), has reminded his opponents that being a valid member with zero pendency of dues, he has an equal right to contest elections for the year 2017-18.

He said his textile unit, Zainab Textile Mills, is situated at Hattar that makes him eligible to contest elections for the office of central Chairman from the North region. The North Region of APTMA is comprised of the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

He said the Memorandum and Articles of Association does not bar him from filing nomination papers from any of the regional offices of the Association. Indeed, the Articles of Association stipulates that the nomination papers can be filed from any regional office. The past precedents suggest that filing of nomination papers from any regional office is in line with the Memorandum and Article of Association.

Therefore, a baseless, false and fabricated propaganda in this respect is merely a useless exercise. "Since a business family has monopolized the APTMA KP politics without break over the last many years, therefore, it has got upset with my nomination for the office of Chairman APTMA," he stated.

He also said that he was carrying out modernization and BMR of Zainab Textile mills like any other textile mill in the country. He said that Zainab Textile didn't owe a single penny to any financial institution of the country. So far as the arrears of the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) is concerned, the entire industry has defaulted on this count, including the mills of my opponent that actually runs into billions of rupees. Therefore the propaganda of my insolvency is baseless and speaks volumes about the anxiety of my opponents. He said he has high regards for his opponent Ahmad Kuli Khan and welcomes him as a contesting candidate for the slot of central Chairman APTMA.
