Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government has decided to proscribe a newly-emerged militant organization, Ansar-ul-Shariah. Talking to the reporters here on Wednesday, Iqbal said that the government has decided to ban Ansar-ul-Shariah, adding that no outfit would be allowed to create chaos in the country.

Terrorists from the militant organization were involved in recent gun attack on MQM-P lawmaker Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan in Karachi. He said that the director general Rangers gave a detailed briefing about Ansar-ul-Shariah and four central leaders of the group involved in the attack on Khawaja Izhar were arrested.

He said that the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) would soon dismantle the network of Ansar-ul-Shariah. "All the political parties including MQM-Pakistan enjoy political freedom, but no group is allowed to provoke people or get involve in terrorism and extremism," he said, adding that effective implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) would be ensured to protect young generation from extremism and terrorism.

The minister said that he had sought a report about the incident of fire at Awami Markaz, Islamabad. He further said that US President Donald Trump has made statement against Pakistan, but Russia, China and European countries have endorsed Pakistan's stance.
