The rupee played both sides in terms of the dollar on the money market on Wednesday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee remained unchanged against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.39 and Rs 105.40 respectively, they said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee shed 10 paisas versus the dollar for buying and selli9ng at Rs 106.00 and Rs 106.20 respectively, they said.

The rupee also lost 55 paisas in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 125.30 Rs 126.60 respectively, they said.

In the third Asian trade, the dollar edged down against the yen, pushed back toward a recent 4-1/2-month low by simmering tensions on the Korean peninsula and by comments from a Federal Reserve official about subdued US inflation.

The dollar fell 0.1 percent to 108.72 yen and touched a low near 108.50 yen in Asian trading. That brought it back close to its Aug. 29 nadir of 108.265 yen, its weakest since mid-April.

The dollar was available versus the Indian rupee at Rs 64.233, the greenback was at 4.244 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.538.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained unchanged against the greenback in the local currency market on Wednesday.

The dollar resumed traded at its day earlier closing of Rs 106.00 and Rs 106.20 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. In the absence of buyers' interest, the dollar did not observe any change and ended at its opening level, the dealers said.

However, the rupee remained under pressure and declined against the pound sterling. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 136.50 and Rs 137.50 as compared with the previous closing of Rs 135.50 and Rs 135.90, respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The value of rupee against the remained uncharged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 107.10 (buying) and Rs 107.20 (selling) against same last rate. It closed at Rs 107.10 (buying) and Rs 107.20 (selling) in evening session.
