The Karachi Port handled 146,916 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,612 tonnes of import cargo and 27,304 tonnes of export cargo including 5,264 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 119,612 tonnes comprised of 53,048 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,950 tonnes of general cargo; 54,114 tonnes of bulk cargo: 37,576 tonnes of coal; 4,498 tonnes of soyabean meal; 5,276 tonnes of urea; 2,969 tonnes of steel scrap; 2,598 tonnes of poultry feed and 500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 27,304 tonnes comprised of 15,904 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,800 tonnes of urea and 9,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,264 containers comprising of 3,490 containers import and 1,774 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,203 of 20's and 925 of 40's loaded while 403 of 20's and 17 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 347 of 20's and 370 of 40's loaded containers while 93 of 20's and 297 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely Maliakos, Sima Genesis, Global Pegasus, Malto Hope, Arabian Orchid and Grand Neptune carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, fertilizer and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were ten vessels viz. Rio Cadiz, Polo, MSC Kerry, MOL Earnest, Meltemi, Maetiga, SG Friendship, TR Princess, Grand Neptune and Heilan Brother carrying containers, oil tankers, SB meal, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely MSC Kerry carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday, while four ships namely Polo, MOL Earnest, Anne and Loch Maree carrying containers, coal and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There were five vessels viz. Norfolk, Jupiter, Da Kang, Inlaco Express and Chang Hang Huai carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday, while six vessels viz. Al Abdali, CMA CGM Narmada, Hyundai Splendor, MT Quetta, MT Lahore and Crystal Ace carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 113,847 tonnes comprising 101,478 tonnes of import cargo and 12,369 tonnes of export cargo including 1,861 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 101,478 tonnes includes 40,675 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,757 tonnes of LPG; 4,729 tonnes of palm oil; 16,778 tonnes of coal; 12,704 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 1,757 tonnes of general cargo and 22,990 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 12,369 tonnes includes 12,369 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,861 containers comprising of 1,210 containers import and 651 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely MT Al-Salam-II carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus and MT Genuine Galaxy carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Indus, MV CS Flourish, MV Yas Gulten, MV Pacific Talent, MV Theofano Star, MT Gas Niaz, MT Gas Husky, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Genuine Galaxy currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, steel product, soyabean meal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen ships namely CV Tempanos, MV Ru Yi-1, MV Levante, MV E Trader, MV Stolt Sakura, MT Tiamat Gas, MT White Purl, MT Torm Valborg, MT Lion-M, MT Athina, MT Bahra, MT Formosa Falcon, MT Maritime Suzzanne, MT Maritime Lara and MT Chemroad Lily carrying containers, project cargo, steel product, tallo, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV Tempanos, CV Uni Florida, MV Beks Cenk, MT Lion-M and MT Maritime Lara carrying containers, coal, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, FOTCO Oil Terminal, and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were eight ships namely CV Uni Florida, MV Han Yi, MV Da Kang, MV Beks Cenk, MV Alliance Norfolk, MT Al-Jassasiya, MT Glorious and MT Lilac Victoria carrying containers, project cargo, vehicle, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV Zephyr and MV Ru Yi Song carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV MSC Pine carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
