The Karachi Port handled 149,792 tonnes of cargo comprising 113,189 tonnes of import cargo and 36,603 tonnes of export cargo including 5,739 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 113,189 tonnes comprised of 42,052 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,920 tonnes of general cargo; 57,385 tonnes of bulk cargo: 40,500 tonnes of coal; 3,855 tonnes of soyabean meal; 6,843 tonnes of fertilizer; 3,118 tonnes of steel scrap; 1,715 tonnes of poultry feed and 9,832 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,603 tonnes comprised of 29,979 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,624 tonnes of urea and 5,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,739 containers comprising of 3,038 containers import and 2,701 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,101 of 20's and 748 of 40's loaded while 41 of 20's and 200 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 827 of 20's and 426 of 40's loaded containers while 278 of 20's and 372 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Al Safat, Kota Kamil, YM Keelung, Amfitrion and E Trader carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. Maliakos, Kota Kamil and Sima Genesis carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Maliakos, Global Pegasus, Malto Hope, Arabian Orchid and Grand Neptune carrying containers, coal, DAP, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Sima Genesis and Loch Maree carrying containers and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Friday.

There were three vessels viz. Rio Cadiz, Libra and MSC Kerry carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday while eight vessels viz. Al Abdali, MOL Earnest, Norfolk, Alpine Persefone, Jupiter, Da Kang, Inlaco Express and Chang Hang Huai carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 103,767 tonnes comprising 68,389 tonnes of import cargo and 35,378 tonnes of export cargo including 2,001 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 68,389 tonnes includes 465 tonnes of furnace oil; 11,986 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,278 tonnes of LPG; 14,850 tonnes of palm oil; 16,186 tonnes of coal; 19,030 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 953 tonnes of general cargo and 2,641 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 35,378 tonnes includes 35,378 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,001 containers comprising of 139 containers import and 1,862 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely MT Navig-8 Aragonite carrying edible oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two ships namely CV MSC Algeciras and MT Caspian Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Kinloss, CV MSC Algeciras, MV CS Flourish, MV Yas Gulten, MV Theofano Star, MT Caspian Gas, MT Gas Husky, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Navig-8 Aragonite currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, general cargo, soyabean meal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus, MV Ru Yi-1, MV Pacific Talent, MT Gas Niaz, MT Tiamat Gas, MT White Purl, MT Torm Valborg, MT Lion-M, MT Athina, MT Bahra, MT Formosa Falcon, MT Maritime Suzzanne, MT Maritime Lara and MT Genuine Galaxy carrying containers, project cargo, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Indus, MT Gas Niaz, MV Pacific Talent and MT Genuine Galaxy carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were ten ships namely CV Tempanos, MV Han Yi, MV Ru Yi Song, MV Stolt Sekora, MV Da Kang, MV Levante, MV Alliance Norfolk, MT Gas Husky, MT Al-Jassasiya and MT Lilac Victoria carrying containers, project cargo, vehicle, LPG, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Uni Florida and MT Glorious carrying containers and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
