The Consul General of Italy Gianluca Rubagotti has said that Italian investors are interested in setting up food processing facilities and joint ventures in power sector in Pakistan. He was talking to reporters at an event "Destination Italy" that was organized to brief about business opportunities in Italy's tourists destination "il Vittoriale degli Italiani" (the house in which famous Italian poet Gabriele Annunzio lived during the period of his exile), and in Cinematography and Audiovisual Industry.

He said that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Italy was increasing as the latter was exporting machinery being used in leather and textile sectors. "Italy wants to collaborate in other sectors such as agriculture and TV production," he said. Dr Gianpaolo Bruno, Italian Trade Commissioner to UAE, Oman and Pakistan, brushed aside the negative impression created by the western media about Pakistan saying that Pakistan is a peaceful destination for investment. "The law and order situation of the country has improved and now more people from Italy are willing to come to Pakistan," he said.

Roberto Stabile, Head of the International Affairs, Department of Italian Association of Cinematography and Audiovisual Industry (ANICA) and Giordano Bruno Guerri, an Italian writer, journalist and president of the Association "il Vittoriale degli Italiani" were also present as they travelled from Italy to discuss opportunities of bilateral collaborations in the fields of Cinema, TV Commercials, Fashion and Events and hospitality sectors. Stabile gave presentation about opportunities that are available in Italy for the production and promotion of film and audiovisual works.
