Indian hackers hacked various official websites of the government departments on the occasion of Pakistan''s Independence Day, Aaj News reported on Monday. The official websites of the ministries of Defence, Information, Defence Production, Law, Inter- Provincial Coordination and the Establishment Division were hacked on Monday. The hackers also uploaded indecent comments on the hacked sites.

Sources in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) referred that The Hindu also reported it as a highly coordinated attack by the Indian hackers although identity of the hackers was not established. The websites remained defaced for quite some time. They have since been rendered inaccessible. The hacked websites showed: "Hacked by LulzSec India" and "Happy Independence Day-15 August." Screenshots of the defaced websites were posted by numerous users on social media.
