This is apropos a Business Recorder editorial "Unacceptable remarks" carried by the newspaper recently. The newspaper has pointed out that "In their eagerness to prove loyalty to their party leadership, following the Supreme Court's verdict, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman seemed to have lost their senses.... Raja Farooq attempted to link the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif - a purely domestic matter of Pakistan - with the Kashmiri struggle for independence from India, saying Kashmiris would have to rethink whether or not to align with Pakistan."

Little do these leaders know that they through their highly irresponsible remarks seem to have provided India with some new ammunition to use it against Pakistan. Consider: India's minister of state for external affairs VK has reportedly told Rajya Sabha about India's position in relation to construction of six dams on the Indus river by Pakistan. Describing Azad Jammu & Kashmir as "Pakistan Occupied Kashmir", he claimed that India has made demarches to both Islamabad and Beijing "conveying that the said construction is in violation of India's sovereignty and territorial integrity".

Although it is not known that India's so-called 'demarches' move is directly or indirectly linked to the highly unacceptable remarks of leaders of G-B and AJK, they have undoubtedly hurt the sentiments of the Kashmiris as well as the Pakistanis.
