Uzbekistan has invited the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to participate in Uzbek ICT week scheduled in September this year. The invitation was extended to Dr Umar Saif founding Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University (ITU) Punjab, Chairman PITB and Adviser to the CM Punjab during a video conference by Olimdjon Umarov, Uzbek Deputy Minister for Ministry for Developing Information Technologies and Communications (MITC) today.

Dr Umar Saif gave an overview of PITB's technological interventions being implemented in education, health, law and order monitoring, police, judiciary, agriculture, tax regime, revenue generation, economy, employment generation and other sectors and informed that PITB was extending smart innovation services to the Nigerian government, Pakistan's federal and other provincial governments while Nepal has sought assistance in rescue and relief operations. Pakistan has tax exemption regime, which geared up activities of I T industry, he added.

Olimdjon Umarov, Uzbek Deputy Minister sought help for developing policy for software industry, ICT solutions and setting up a software technology park like Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) and e-Governance replica in various government centers in Uzbekistan on line similar to being practiced by PITB successfully. An Uzbek MITC delegation is expected to visit Pakistan soon.
