Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Customs has seized large quantity of Iranian origin smuggled goods, worth Rs 111 million, at Mastung, Balochistan. According to details, the crackdown of Customs Intelligence against the menace of smuggling continues at full pace throughout the country.

In a recent clampdown against the smuggling activities in Balochistan, the Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation (Customs) has foiled a major attempt at Mastung (Balochistan) to smuggle huge quantities of sulphonic acid, motor oil, plastic shopping bags and skimmed milk / whey powder to the up country destinations. On specific information received by Shaukat Ali, Director General Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Regional Office Quetta, seized 22 trucks: 11 trucks of sulphonic acid, five trucks of motor oil and six trucks of the other miscellaneous goods during a historic raid on a premises in Mastung area of Balochistan.

The details of Iranian origin smuggled goods recovered during anti-smuggling operation included sulphonic acid, 1,195 drums; motor oil, 3,800 drums; plastic shopping bags, 2,000 bags, and skimmed milk/whey powder, 1,860 bags. The smuggled goods along with the offending vehicles have been seized under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. Estimated CIF value of the seizure is Rs 111 million. It is worth mentioning that the above-referred goods are seized in such a huge quantity/value very rarely in a single anti-smuggling operation. Further investigation is in progress, sources added.
