The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 128 billion during the first 19 days of July 2017 against Rs 92 billion in same period of July 2016, reflecting a growth of 39 percent. According to sources, the administrative and enforcement measures taken by the FBR have started showing positive results in the form of 39 percent growth in revenue collection in the first month of current fiscal year.

The taxation measures taken in budget (2017-18) and effective monitoring of taxpayers have also contributed in 39 percent growth during this period. The real picture of revenue collection would be visible by the end of July 2017 when the provisional collection for first month of current fiscal year would be finalised.

When asked if any advance taxes have been taken by the FBR in June 2017 to meet target, the sources said that no advance taxes have been taken and increase in revenue collection during July confirms that no advance taxes have been taken.
