Punjab Food Authority (PFA) during Eid holidays continued the surprise checking of different food outlets especially canteens working at recreational places and imposed fine on such 21 canteens and 81 different restaurants and food points on violation of rules of hygiene and using substandard ingredients for producing food items.

Director Operations PFA Rafia Haider giving details of the operation said that special field teams checked cafeterias of Lahore Zoo, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Iqbal Park, Jillani Park, Model Town Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Lahore Safari Park, cafeterias of different cinema houses and other food points.

The authority imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on canteen no 3 of the greater Iqbal Park, greater Iqbal park 1947 branch 1 and branch 2, Lahore zoo while Rs 20,000 each on Safari Park and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park team Rs 15,000. The teams also wasted rotten vegetables, adulterated ketchup and substandard burger buns in huge quantity.

The teams imposed Rs 100,000 fine on Option Restaurant (Garden Town) for using rancid oil, Qabail Restaurant was fined the same amount for using expired bread, rotten vegetables, substandard ketchup and rotten meat. OPTP Gulberg Branch was also handed over a fine of Rs 100,000 for using rancid oil and the oil was wasted on the spot.
